chlor0hexidine (peridex)

Periodontal disease is a serious infection under your gumline.

CHLOROHEXIDINE (PERIDEX)  is an antimicrobial agent that kills the bacteria that causes the infection.

  • It’s placed directly in the infected areas—or “pockets”—in your gums.
  • It’s applied by a registered dental hygienist right after scaling and root planing, the dental procedure that disrupts stubborn plaque and bacteria below your gum line—where brushing and flossing can’t reach.

TAKE HOME INSTRUCTIONS

When prescribed for use at home, using the syringe provided and take 3 ml of PERIDEX from the subscription obtained from your pharmacy and irrigate the area of concern by gently inserting the tip of the syringe between the teeth and the gum. Use twice daily for three weeks.

After irrigating the areas of concern, avoid rinsing your mouth, eating, drinking and smoking for thirty minutes. Avoid swishing PERIDEX around the teeth. PRIDE may cause a temporary brown stain on teeth and increase tartar formation. By using a syringe, the amount of staining is significantly reduced. While using PERIDEX, it is important to do a thorough job of brushing and flossing your teeth.
